UNLV offers a full array of evening and weekend classes for non-traditional students, many of whom take classes at night in order to accommodate daytime jobs.
Those students will now have an even easier time finding the classes they need from a new comprehensive catalog, which lists hundreds of evening and weekend classes being offered for the upcoming fall semester, which begins Aug. 27.
"Most evening or weekend courses meet once a week for two and a half hours, which makes them convenient for many students," said UNLV Provost Raymond W. Alden.
Alden said that students can choose from among 14 different graduate degree programs that can all be completed through evening or weekend classes, including the law degree program. Students also can take the required courses for bachelor's degrees in business and hotel administration.
Courses are offered at the UNLV campus, as well as in Henderson, downtown Las Vegas, and at Nellis Air Force Base. Non-traditional students also have the option of taking early-morning classes or classes through the distance education program.
In addition, UNLV has established a number of special programs for non-traditional students. These include an honor society, Omicron Psi; a student association, Beta Theta Gamma; a special lounge area in the Moyer Student Union; and a mentoring program that matches first year non-traditional students with experienced non-traditional students.
