Governor Brian Sandoval has appointed William S. Boyd Professor of Law Francine Lipman to the Nevada Tax Commission. The appointment, effective immediately, lasts one term and will expire October 2019. Professor Lipman will replace Bob Berengo, who has served on the Commission since 2003.
“Francine Lipman has an impressive legal and financial background having worked in several states with a wide array of revenue climates and structures,” said Governor Sandoval in the announcement. “The Commission has been tasked with the opportunity to help ensure the overwhelmingly approved revenue enhancements for public education are administered efficiently. I know Professor Lipman’s experience will contribute to our state’s success. I am pleased she is willing to contribute her knowledge to the Tax Commission.”
Professor Lipman is an expert on tax law, taxation of business entities, estate and gift taxation, and accounting and finance for lawyers. An accomplished accountant, lawyer, professor, and scholar, she has written extensively on tax and accounting issues for numerous legal journals, and is a frequent speaker on tax subjects to law and business groups.
The Nevada Tax Commission is made up of eight citizens, appointed by the Governor, who are tasked with supervising the overall administration and operations of the Department of Taxation.
