In celebration of National Library Week, the Wiener-Rogers Law Library at UNLV's William S. Boyd School of Law will display an exhibit of banned books April 6-12. The exhibit is free and open to the public.
More than 40 books will be on display, all of which have been banned in the United States through the years for sexual, political, religious, or social reasons. Among the books on display will be "Peyton Place" by Grace Metalius, "Ulysses" by James Joyce, "Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee" by Dee Alexander, "Naked Lunch" by William Burroughs, and "Best Short Stories by Negro Writers."
The Wiener-Rogers Law Library is located on the third floor of the William S. Boyd School of Law and is open Mondays through Thursdays, 7:30 a.m.-midnight; Fridays, 7:30 a.m.-9 p.m.; Saturdays, 9 a.m.-9 p.m.; and Sundays, from 10 a.m.-midnight.
National Library Week is an annual event celebrated by public, academic, and special libraries all over the United States and is sponsored by the American Library Association.
