The UNLV arboretum will hold its third annual plant sale April 18, 8 a.m.-4 p.m., in the parking lot adjacent to the Fertitta Tennis Complex, just off Harmon Road.

The focus of this year's sale will be on plants that are considered water efficient and suitable for use in the high desert. Many difficult-to-find species will be available, including Mojave natives, ornamental grasses, and perennials.

Horticulture experts will be present to provide information on the various plants. A limited number of UNLV arboretum shirts and hats will also be available for sale.

More than 1,200 containers of plants were sold and $2,400 raised by the arboretum during last year's spring sale. This year's sale will benefit arboretum educational programs and campus landscaping projects. Volunteer master gardeners from the university cooperative extension program will assist with the sale.
