The public is invited to taste some of the country's latest wine releases and best vintages, and "take a sip for scholarship" as UNLV's William F. Harrah College of Hotel Administration and Southern Wine and Spirits of Nevada present the 32 nd annual UNLVino on May 4-6. This unique fundraising event will culminate with the Grand Tasting event on May 6 from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Paris Resort and Casino.
Wine lovers and wine makers will have the opportunity to meet and sample hundreds of wines from prestigious wineries around the country, all while supporting the advancement of higher education at UNLV. "This year, with over 800 wineries participating and the fortune of having our friends at Paris host the event, it is sure to be amazing," said Andy Feinstein, chairman of UNLV's Department of Food and Beverage Management.
The event was co-created in 1974 by Jerry Vallen, founding dean of the College of Hotel Administration, and Larry Ruvo, senior managing director of Southern Wine and Spirits of Nevada. UNLVino has become one of the largest single day wine-tasting events in the country, and over the years, the event has raised millions of dollars for higher education.
In 2003, Auss-Some and Then-Some, a tasting of Southern Hemisphere wines, and Bubble-licious, a champagne and sparkling wine tasting were added to the UNLVino experience. "This year's Bubble-Licious is very special, as proceeds will benefit a visiting professorship in the name of Dr. Jerry Vallen, founding dean of the college," Feinstein said.
