The UNLV Office of the Executive Vice President and Provost announced recently that Ann McDonough, Ph.D., has accepted the position of interim dean of the University College. She started in her new role immediately.
McDonough joined the university faculty in 1990. She holds a Ph.D. in theatre from the University of Minnesota and has created an innovative and nationally recognized senior theatre program, which included launching the first bachelor's degree in senior theatre in the country. For the past 10 years, McDonough has been the director of gerontology, a program that includes an academic certificate and a bachelor of university studies degree with areas of study in gerontology. She has also published eight books on senior adult theatre. The senior adult theatre program and the gerontology program have been featured on the NBC Nightly News and The Today Show, on the Retirement Living Network and in Time Magazine.
University College at UNLV offers advising and support to students as they make choices about their academic paths. The college also serves students whose specific interests and future employment goals cannot be satisfied in a single major.
