"Greek Body Language: Evidence in Art and Archaeology" is the topic of the April 11 University Forum lecture.
Donald Lateiner, professor of classics at Ohio Wesleyan University, will discuss the depiction of nonverbal behavior in images painted on ancient Athenian pottery. He will also discuss the people who created, sold, and owned these pieces.
On April 18, Frank Serafini, assistant professor of education at UNLV, will present the slide-illustrated lecture "Landscape Images of the Colorado Plateau."
Southern Nevada lies next to the Colorado Plateau, known to photographers for its picturesque geography. Serafini will take the audience on a visual journey to some of his favorite places and will explain how he creates his unique images.
Both lectures begin at 7:30 p.m. in the auditorium of the Marjorie Barrick Museum of Natural History. All University Forum lectures are free and open to the public.
The University Forum lecture series is sponsored by the College of Liberal Arts and is underwritten by the Lodge Kalafatis Trust and the UNLV Foundation. Lateiner's lecture is also cosponsored by UNLV's history department.
