A number of events, including a display of panels from the AIDS Memorial Quilt, will take place Dec. 2 - 4 at UNLV in recognition of World AIDS Day.
Other activities include discussion sessions with members of an HIV/AIDS support group, art displays, music, and a candlelight vigil. Sponsors of the activities include the UNLV Student Health Center, the office of campus housing, the office of student involvement and activities, the Student Health Advisory Committee, the Lead Team, and the Residence Hall Association.
Following is a list of the various events:
* 9 a.m.-5 p.m. each day, panels from the AIDS Memorial Quilt will be on display in the ballroom of the Moyer Student Union.
* 9 a.m.-5 p.m. each day, members of Project Up Front, a support and education group for people living with HIV/AIDS, will be available to discuss HIV and AIDS in the ballroom of the student union.
* 9 a.m.-5 p.m. each day, Pull Up a Chair, a memorial work of art honoring people who have died of AIDS, will be on display in the ballroom of the student union. * 9 a.m.-5 p.m. each day, Faces of Courage will be on display in the ballroom of the student union. The display features plaster casts that people with HIV/AIDS have made of their faces, as well as recordings of their personal stories.
* 3-5 p.m. Dec. 2, Urban World, a local, multicultural music group, will perform in the alcove of the student union to bring attention to the subject of HIV/AIDS through song.
* 4:30 p.m. Dec. 4, a candlelight vigil will take place. Participants will gather on the north side of the student union and walk to the AIDS Memorial Garden at the Bigelow Health Sciences Building.
