Aspiring entrepreneurs have until Jan. 2, 2015, to submit their business ideas to the 2015 Dominic Anthony Marrocco Southern Nevada Business Plan Competition. The 6th annual contest aims to identify and grow the best new business idea in Southern Nevada. Winners will receive more than $80,000 in cash and prizes to help launch their business ventures.
To help contest entrants learn the fundamentals of creating a business plan, the Nevada Small Business Development Center will host free workshops on Nov. 12 and Nov. 14. Topics include determining start-up costs, creating a strong elevator pitch and crafting an effective executive summary.
The workshops will begin at 6 p.m. at the InNevation Center, 6795 S. Edmond St., Third Floor, Las Vegas, NV 89118. RSVPs are required and may be sent to entrepreneurship@unlv.edu.
The Southern Nevada Business Plan Competition is a collaboration between the UNLV Center for Entrepreneurship in the Lee Business School and the Las Vegas Business Press.
