For three months last year, some of UNLV’s brightest future accountants were trying to figure out how to sell more empanadas.

Two teams representing the University of Nevada, Las Vegas Lee Business School and its department of accounting competed in the final round of the Institute of Management Accountants' annual National Student Case Competition in Indianapolis on June 17, and one of them ultimately won the competition.

The American Institute of Certified Public Accountants has announced that students from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas have earned first place in the 2014 AICPA Accounting Competition. Their top finish in the competition earned a $5,000 award for their school.
