Biography

Sean W. Mulvenon is a professor of educational statistics with expertise in K-12 and higher education policy. He has 208 copyrights and two patents focused on the design and development of educational platforms for teachers, parents, and students. 

Mulvenon's background in growth modeling led to his work in K-12 accountability for almost two decades. This includes serving as the senior advisor to the Deputy Secretary of Education in Washington, D.C. developing and improving educational policy for inclusion of growth models in accountability, as well as nationally representative large-scale data modeling algorithms for the U.S. Department of Education. Additionally, he has worked with numerous state educational agencies, including in Arkansas, Michigan, South Carolina, and Wisconsin.

His scholarly works have sought to understand the policy and legislative processes that impact and guide the development of effective reforms for both K-12 and higher education. Mulvenon has published over a 100 manuscripts, book chapters, and monographs. He has led over 200 presentations at national and international conferences. And he has served on numerous national panels and boards — most recently as the national chair for the Quantitative Methods and Statistical Theory Section of the American Educational Research Association.
