Biography

Hyunhwa 'Henna' Lee specializes in cognitive health, including topics such as brain injury and sleep disruption.

Lee's primary line of research focuses on neuro-cognitive-psychosocial health and recovery after acquired brain injury, such as mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI) and concussion. She leads the Brain Injury Translational Research (BITR) lab, where she and students study biobehavioral mechanisms for mTBI and concussion recovery, using peripheral epigenetic markers and digital biomarkers for post-injury symptoms, such as cognitive declines, psychosocial problems, and problems with walking and physical balance and eye movement. 

The UNLV School of Nursing associate professor mentors both Ph.D. and Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) nursing students on their scholarly projects, and also works with undergraduate and graduate students from multiple disciplines, including medicine, psychology, health science, life science, and computer science. Additionally, Lee teaches both undergraduate and graduate students for evidence-based practice and research in nursing, informatics, and quality improvement as well as nursing theories and family health promotion.
