A former principal early in my teaching career. She often reminded me to keep the positive spirit alive and uplifting, no matter what!
Who is an unsung hero at UNLV?
Every one of our teachers/staff at the preschool — they dedicate so much time and energy to young children.
You’re stuck between meetings with 30 minutes to kill on campus, what do you do?
I love to check out the Lee Pascal Memorial Rose Garden at the College of Education Building.
What UNLV head-scratcher do you wish you knew the answer to?
How much land is owned or leased by UNLV in Las Vegas? It’s expanded greatly as a premier research university!
What did you do the last time you took time off?
I spent time with my grandkids and gardening around the patio.
Any advice for young women starting careers on campus?
Be resourceful, innovative, and open to the opportunities presented before you. Be proud of who you are and confident with yourself.
What issues women facing today do you feel compelled to help solve?
Balancing work and families, having confidence in their career choices, and providing a space to listen, mentor, and guide.
What recent life lessons has really changed the way you look at life?
Losing several loved ones over the past few years has made me appreciate that life is delicate and precious. Take each day with a positive attitude!
Tell us something that might surprise us about you.
I once had dinner with Frank Sinatra and his wife, Barbara, at Caesar’s Palace. I also visited Sammy Davis Jr. and Tom Jones backstage during their performances.
