How has receiving a scholarship impacted your student experience?
Receiving a scholarship has helped me cover tuition expenses, textbook expenses, and other expenses that come with being a university student. The scholarship gives me peace of mind to focus on other aspects of my education including studying for an exam and attending classes to complete my program of study.
Tell us about your proudest accomplishment.
My proudest accomplishment during my time in college was when I got the opportunity to be the commencement speaker during my master's degree graduation. It was my first time speaking in front of a very large crowd, but because I had so many people who believed in me, I was able to accomplish that task.
How would you say "thank you" to the donors who supported your scholarship?
I would like the donors who supported my scholarship to know that they are a big part of the reason why I will earn my Ph.D soon. Without the scholarships that I have received throughout my studies at UNLV, I would not have come this far. I say a big "Thank you." I really appreciate the scholarship!

What are you involved in on campus and in the community?
Outside of my research at the Auditory Cognition and Development Lab under the supervision of Dr. Erin Hannon and the Language Development Lab under the supervision of Dr. Felix Wang, I have found several opportunities for campus engagement.
I’m currently a member of the Outreach Undergraduate Mentorship Program (OUMP), where I serve as a research mentor to some amazing undergraduate students. I was a founding member of The Intersection Partners(TiPs) who assisted in creating a peer-mentorship and support program alongside the university’s multicultural resource center, The Intersection. Additionally, I’m the graduate liaison for the Psychology Club here at UNLV.
How has receiving a scholarship impacted your student experience?
Receiving this scholarship has been incredibly beneficial in assisting me with continuing my education. The funding has been crucial for offsetting financial burdens and allowing me to focus on my research and degree milestones.
How would you say "thank you" to the donors who supported your scholarship?
I would like to express the utmost gratitude towards the donor who supported my scholarship. These acts of generosity are pivotal in mitigating the inevitable barriers that can arise when pursuing higher education. I’m thankful for the opportunity to benefit from this kindness and to all donors who provide similar opportunities to open doors for future students.

Major/Program: Accounting
Expected Graduation Date: 2022
Hometown: Las Vegas
Scholarship: Clarice M. Goldberg Endowed Scholarship
Why did you choose UNLV?
I chose UNLV because of my love for Las Vegas. This city is a supportive community and I have received that same support from UNLV. UNLV’s accounting department cares about each student and pushes each student to be successful.
What are you involved in on campus and in the community?
I am a member of (the sorority) Sigma Kappa and (the accounting student organizations) Beta Alpha Psi and Institute of Management Accountants at UNLV. Through these organizations, I have also become more involved in the community. For example, I fundraise for Alzheimer’s Association and participate in their annual Walk to End Alzheimer’s. I also like to volunteer at animal shelters/rescues.
How has receiving a scholarship impacted your student experience?
Receiving a scholarship impacts my student experience in more ways than just financially. Finances are stressful and, as we all know, college is a stressful time already. Receiving a scholarship and lifted some of my financial burden and the stress that follows. Any relief of this stress allows me to be a better and happier student.
