In recognition of Sexual Assault Awareness Month, I am partnering with the UNLV CARE Center to share an important message with our UNLV community.
Sexual assault and sexual violence is an issue that permeates all communities, including university campuses across the nation. The UNLV CARE Center, formerly the Jean Nidetch Women’s Center, offers resources for everyone at UNLV, including information specifically for students and for faculty and staff.
Individuals who have been sexually assaulted may not know where to turn or what actions to take next. Even naming the event as “sexual assault” can be a long, emotional journey. I want you to know what happened to you isn’t your fault, we believe you, and you are not alone. The UNLV CARE Center is here to help.
The center has events scheduled throughout April to raise awareness and provide a safe space for victims-survivors to learn about healing tools. This year’s theme is Thrive in Y(our) Story, providing individuals a chance to explore storytelling through art, writing, and movement. Please visit the UNLV CARE Center and review the events schedule.
As a university striving for excellence in inclusivity and equity, we are committed to every member of our community feeling safe and supported. Thank you for caring for and supporting each other.
