Night owls and impossibly early risers rejoice: you’ve got options for your next all-nighter.
In a nod to students who have been clamoring for all-hours access, the University Libraries will offer students an overnight study space in Lied Library to use during the Spring 2018 Study and Finals Weeks.
"Typically, Lied Library has offered extended hours during this time, remaining open until 2 a.m. to offer students additional hours to utilize the library as they finish projects and papers," University Libraries Dean Maggie Farrell said. "In discussion with CSUN, who have consistently asked for a 24-hour study space in the library, we have implemented this pilot program for the spring semester."
The Book 'n' Bean and its attached Extended Study Area will be open from 2-7:30 a.m. May 1-10, excluding the weekend. Students will be required to show UNLV identification for entry.
"While the space offers a limited numbers of seats, students will have access to quiet and open study spaces, as well as UNLV Wi-Fi," Farrell said. "We'll also be soliciting feedback from students … to help us further understand the needs of our student body during Study and Finals Weeks."
The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, which runs the Book 'n' Bean coffee shop, will not be providing food or beverage service during these extended hours. There is no access to the library proper, computers or printers during overnight study.
