Statements from UNLV Administration
11:02 a.m., Oct. 2, 2017
Our thoughts remain with the victims of last night’s shooting and with their loved ones. We are all in shock and grieving from this tragic event.
So many of those in our community have stepped up to support those affected. On behalf of UNLV, we would like to thank the many individuals and organizations that donated food, water, goods and transportation to support evacuees at the Thomas & Mack Center. The last of the evacuees at UNLV’s Thomas & Mack Center left campus at approximately 10 a.m.
The outpouring of generosity has been remarkable. We’d like to thank the Thomas & Mack Center staff and UNLV Police for assisting in this time of need.
We are also grateful to our faculty, staff, and students for their flexibility and efforts to come together as a university community. Your presence here today provides an opportunity to have dialogue with each other as we come to terms with last night’s incident.
Drop-in counseling services are available today for students, faculty, and staff until 6 p.m. in the Health Education room of the Student Recreation and Wellness Center. No appointments are necessary.
Local officials have asked anyone interested in donating blood to contact or visit United Blood Services at the Whitney Ranch or West Charleston locations in Las Vegas.
