Phil Burns (Student Conduct) has been elected to the national Board of Directors for the Association for Student Conduct Administration (ASCA). He also will be serving as director for four-year public institutions and will be chairing ASCA's Leadership Committee. His term will be 2013 through 2015.

Steve Rowland (Geoscience) recently published the first English translation of an 18th century Russian book by Mikhail Lomonosov. Louie Puentedura (Physical Therapy) recently won the highest research award in orthopedic physical therapy, the 2012 Rose Excellence in Research Award for the Orthopedic Section of American Physical Therapy Association. He also won the Medeiros Award for the best 2012 article in the Journal of Manual and Manipulative Physiotherapeutics.

John Bowers (English) has had his book An Introduction to the "Gawain" Poet (University Press of Florida, 2012) nominated for the Warren-Brooks Award honoring the authors and former Rhodes Scholars Robert Penn Warren and Cleanth Brooks. Bowers is himself a former Rhodes Scholar at Merton College, Oxford -- the same college as J. R. R. Tolkien.
