Xue Xing and Howard R. D. Gordon (both Teaching and Learning) published an article, "Mediating Effects of School Engagement between High School on-Time Completion and Career and Technical Education," in the journal Vocations and Learning. This study found that career and technical education (CTE) coursework had strong positive influence on high school on-time completion and CTE activities (i.e., participation in career and technical student organizations and work-based learning) influenced on-time completion through school engagement.
