UNLVolunteers (Service Learning and Leadership) has been chosen by Friends of Nevada Wilderness (FONW) as its nonprofit partner of the year for 2018. Amber Sevart (Service Learning and Leadership) serves as the staff advisor for UNLV Volunteers, a student group, while Thuon Chen and Netta Ohayon are its student environmental impact coordinators. The group has collaborated with FONW to plan multiple events over the past few years. Events have focused on education (social justice and stewardship) alongside the service projects and have even integrated additional guest speakers. UNLVolunteers and other honorees will be recognized at the Wahoo for Wilderness event Feb. 23.
