The UNLV Division of Acute Care Surgery worked with the UNLV Office of Traffic Safety to publish "Higher risk of auto versus pedestrian crashes in school-age children on school days" in the Journal of Trauma and Acute Care Surgery. The study evaluated children who were hit by cars in Las Vegas and found that the risk of crash is higher on school days than non-school days, for both minor and major injuries, and that there is a noticeable increase immediately before and after school.
