UNLV recently was notified that it was honored by the Corporation for National and Community Service with placement on the President's Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll for 2015. The university received its award in the "general" category for an array of service initiatives, including the Engelstad Scholars program, America Reads, and alternative break trips. Additionally, UNLV has an array of programs that contribute to its status of being an honor roll institution, including service-learning, UNLVolunteers, and other initiatives.
The honor roll recognizes institutions of higher education that support exemplary community service programs and raise the visibility of effective practices in campus community partnerships. The Corporation for National and Community Service has administered the award since 2006 in collaboration with the U.S. Department of Education and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, as well as the American Council on Education, Campus Compact, and the Interfaith Youth Core.
The office of civic engagement & diversity submitted the honor roll application on behalf of UNLV.
