Tyler D. Parry (Interdisciplinary, Gender, and Ethnic Studies) is the author of Jumping the Broom: The Surprising Multicultural Origins of a Black Wedding Ritual (University of North Carolina Press), which has been listed as one of the Best Black History Books of 2020 by the website Black Perspectives. Black Perspectives is the award-winning blog of the African American Intellectual History Society. Parry is a professor of African American and Africa Diaspora Studies.
