Travis A. Olson (Teaching and Learning) is the UNLV principal investigator for a group that produced the article,"Geometric Reflections: Why Should They Not Be Just a Flip?," which published in the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics' Mathematics Teacher: Teaching & Learning PK-1. The article is based on a currently running National Science Foundation (NSF) grant. Olson is a part of an established research team of PI's and co-authors from Brigham Young University, University of Arkansas, and Grand Valley State University, all of whom are alumni of the NSF's Center for Teaching and Learning — the Center for the Study of Mathematics Curriculum.
NCTM is the world's largest mathematics education organization throughout the United States and Canada. Additionally, the MTLT journal reflects the current practices of mathematics education, as well as maintaining a knowledge base of practice and policy in looking at the future of the field. Content is aimed at preschool to 12th grade with peer-reviewed and invited articles.
