Timothy Grigsby (Environmental & Occupational Health) co-published an article on "Adverse Childhood Experiences and Intimate Partner Violence; Findings From a Community Sample of Hispanic Young Adults" in the Journal of Interpersonal Violence.
In the United States, a substantial proportion of the adult population from all socioeconomic and ethnic backgrounds report experiencing intimate partner violence over the life course. This is one of the few studies to examine the role of cumulative adverse childhood experiences in these violent behaviors among a community cohort of Hispanics. The findings highlight the importance of investing in coordinated efforts to develop strategies to help young people cope with the downstream effects of early life adversity.
