Susan Byrne (World Languages and Cultures) was invited to present a paper during an international conference held in Münster, Germany, earlier this month in celebration of "La autoridad de los saberes: El letrado" [Authorities of Knowledge: The Jurist]. Her paper, titled "Letras creativas y jurídicas por el jurista Antonio de la Peña," looked at the mix of creative and legal content in a late 16th-century Spanish manuscript dedicated to criminal punishments for erotic crimes. In addition to professor Byrne, the conference included presentations by 20 scholars working in various universities in Spain, France, and Germany.
