Sunny Gittens (Student Life), Jenna-Weglarz-Ward (Education) and Claire Tredwell (UNLV/CSUN Preschool) were awarded a $460K Child Care Access Means Parents in School grant from the Department of Education.
These funds for child care access are vital as they will enable UNLV to provide stipends to low-income students with young children towards the costs of childcare. Participating student/parents will receive parent education and support in addition to the childcare stipends. It’s a true win-win for both our students and their children, as we’ll be able to keep more of our students in school and on-track to graduate while at the same time opening doors to quality early childhood education for our students' children. More information about how UNLV students can apply to participate in the program will be announced by the end of the fall semester.
