Monserrath Hernández (Journalism and Media Studies), Maribel Estrada Calderón (History), Marcela Rodriguez-Campo (Teaching and Learning), Elsa Lopez (Education), Laurents Bañuelos-Benitez (Education), Rodrigo Vazquez (Economics), and Nathalie Martinez (Honors) were each recently awarded a student scholarship from the city of Las Vegas and the Historic Preservation Commission during the 2019 Historic Preservation Awards. They were selected for their work collecting oral histories for the Latinx Voices of Southern Nevada project in the University Libraries' Oral History Research Center.
Hernández, '18 BA Journalism & Media Studies and Political Science, is a graduate student in journalism and media studies. Calderón, '19 BA History, is a master's student in the history department. Rodriguez-Campo, '16 Master of Education, is a doctoral student in the teaching and learning department. Lopez is an undergraduate student majoring in elementary education.
Bañuelos-Benitez, '17 BA Journalism and Media Studies, is a graduate student in education. Vazquez, '19 BA English, is a graduate student in economics. Martinez, a member of the Honors College, is an undergraduate majoring in anthropology and French.
