Sheniz Moonie (Epidemiology & Biostatistics) recently received a $1.3 million grant for the Nevada Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System, a federally funded phone survey supported by the CDC that gathers self-reported chronic disease and health risk behavior information by state for a representative sample of adults 18 years of age and over. Data are used to guide and inform policy and funding initiatives. All states are able to evaluate their disease burden relative to other states as well as the nation. This is a cooperative initiative between UNLV School of Public Health and UNR School of Community Health Sciences.
