Director Shaun Franklin-Sewell (Marketing & Patron Services in the Performing Arts Center) received a scholarship to attend the International Association of Venue Managers (IAVM) Venue Management School (VMS). The VMS first-year curriculum covers topics such as event management, life safety, marketing and advertising, crowd management and the guest experience. The second-year curriculum covers areas such as leadership and image, cost control, risk management and insurance, and strategic business planning. The scholarship, worth more than $7,000, is sponsored by IAVM’s Diversity & Inclusive Leadership Committee. In the application, Franklin-Sewell discussed the absolute necessity of ensuring a diverse team of ushers and house managers at the Performing Arts Center as part of the center’s commitment to serving diverse audiences.
