Samantha Godbey, Chelsea Heinbach, and Xan Goodman (all Libraries) recently presented at the European Conference on Information Literacy in Oulu, Finland.
Godbey presented "Assessment and the ACRL Framework", a discussion on the different types of assessment, using specific examples of assessment data using the framework developed by the Association of College Research Libraries (ACRL). She also presented "Incorporating Information Literacy Threshold Concepts into Disciplinary Instructional Contexts," which provided librarians with ideas for instruction and assessment using the core concepts in the ACRL Framework. Godbey and Goodman presented "Cultural Implications of the ACRL Framework," a paper reviewing literature about the framework and the cultural implications of each of the six identified frames.
Heinbach and Krystyna K. Matusiak from the University of Denver presented "Visual Resources and Social Media: Leveraging Everyday Practices to Teach Information Literacy." They discussed the visual literacy skills that students struggle with with using social media and explored practical methods to address them by leveraging practices occurring on social media in everyday life.
