Ruby Nugent, Stephanie Fell, Aidy Weeks, and Rebecca Orozco (Libraries) gave a presentation at the 50th anniversary of the REFORMA Conference VII, titled, “Changing the Narrative: An interdisciplinary approach to recommending changes to the National Library of Medicine’s controlled vocabulary and development of search hedges to improve access to information for Hispanic/Latinx population groups.”
Nugent and Weeks presented as co-leads of the MeSH Team. Fell presented as a project contributor of the MeSH Team. Orozco presented as co-lead of the Search Hedge Team. This presentation is related to the Hispanic/Latinx Inclusive Terminologies Project, a 16-member endeavor made of two project teams that reviewed Hispanic/Latinx terminology specific to the United States to create comprehensive search hedges and address expansion and restructuring of medical subject heading controlled vocabulary.

Weeks is an assistant professor and the interim director of the School of Medicine Library. Orozco is an assistant professor and Science Librarian.
