Robin Kee (Life Sciences) was selected as scholar in the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Undergraduate Scholarship Program (UGSP). The UGSP is a highly competitive program with approximately 300 nationwide applications received and 10 students chosen as UGSP Scholars for the 2019-20 academic year. Kee's selection as a UGSP Scholar speaks highly of her accomplishments.
A senior biology major, Kee is a member of the AANAPISI-STEM program at UNLV, conducting behavior and genetic research on Hawaiian Drosophila in professor Donald Price’s research laboratory. Her ultimate goal is to become a research scientist and engage in outreach programs that will enrich young people’s education in the sciences and introduce them to research.
The NIH UGSP Scholarship will provide her with support during the 2019-20 academic year to continue this research. In the summer, she will be a paid research trainee at the NIH and after graduation she will obtain one year of employment at the NIH as a research trainee.
