Robert Futrell (Sociology) co-authored a new book, "Out of Hiding: Extremist White Supremacy and How It Can Be Stopped " (published by Routledge), with Kathleen Blee and Pete Simi. Their argument focuses on three moments between 2008 and today during which white supremacists took opportunities to move from pockets of underground activism to violent protests across the United States. The book demonstrates that today’s white supremacy is less a unique eruption than a continuation – and an acceleration – of longstanding U.S. white supremacy. The book's first review, by the Associated Press, has been published in various outlets, including ABC News, the San Francisco Chronicle, and the National Post.
