R. Jacob Baker (Electrical and Computer Engineering) has been named an Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) fellow. He is being recognized for his contributions to the design of memory integrated circuits, which have resulted in more than 100 U.S. patents on billions of dollars' worth of memory chips that are used by millions of people every day. He holds more than 200 granted or pending patents in integrated circuit design. The IEEE grade of fellow is conferred by the IEEE Board of Directors upon a person with an outstanding record of accomplishments in any of the IEEE fields of interest. IEEE fellow is the highest grade of membership and is recognized by the technical community as a prestigious honor and an important career achievement. Of the more than 400,000 members, 298 individuals have been elevated to IEEE fellow for 2013.
