Amanda C. Saragosa (first year PhD student), Gabriela Buccini, Sheniz Moonie, Christopher Johansen (all Public Health), and Alyssa Crittenden (Graduate College) co-authored a newly published article, "Factors associated with caregiver responsive and non-responsive feeding styles in Clark County, Nevada," in the Public Health Nutrition Journal. This study used data from the Annual Early Responsive Nurturing Care (EARN) that Dr. Buccini's research team conducts to monitor key maternal-child health indicators in Clark County, Nevada. In this publication, we investigated the socioecological factors associated with caregiver responsive and non-responsive feeding styles in Clark County, Nevada.
Our study found that non-responsive feeding were associated with low-income households, water insecurity, young mothers, lower maternal education, mild risk for depression, and a moderate to severe risk for anxiety. These findings can be used to tailor educational approaches to address disparities in early childhood obesity.
