Prosun Roy (Mechanical Engineering), Lung-Wen Antony Chen (Environmental and Occupational Health), Yi-Tung Chen (Mechanical Engineering), Sajjad Ahmad, Eakalak Khan (both Civil and Environmental Engineering and Construction), and Mark Buttner (Environmental and Occupational Health) published an article on "Pollen Dispersion and Deposition in Real‑World Urban Settings: A Computational Fluid Dynamic Study" in the journal Aerosol Science and Engineering.
In this study a computational fluid dynamic (CFD) model was established and applied to investigate aerodynamic behavior of pollen particles in western Las Vegas. The model helps identify pollution hotspots and refine exposure assessment. It may also investigate how specific interventions such as reducing emissions or changing landscape will impact the exposure and risk around the pollen sources.
Prosun Roy was a Ph.D. student who graduated in spring 2023 and is currently affiliated with University of Wisconsin Platteville.
