Nicholas B. Irwin (Economics) recently published a paper, "Legacies of Lead: Estimating Home Buyer Response to Potential Lead Exposure" in Land Economics. The paper examines the responsiveness of potential homebuyers to a novel lead-risk disclosure program that designated some residential areas as high-risk for potential exposure. The results indicate a substantial negative house price effect following risk designation with additional findings suggesting neighborhood composition changed as well due to altered risk perceptions in different socio-economic groups.
