Natalie Johns (Biochemistry) was recognized for an abstract that she submitted to the American Society of Radiation Oncologists (ASTRO). A senior, Johns was selected to present her work, "Comics for Pediatric Oncology Patients & Families: Education & Empowerment," at the annual meeting in October in Miami. The abstract was one of 280 selected for oral presentation out of 3,000 submissions to the professional conference aimed at highlighting advances in the applications, technologies, and methodologies of the rapidly evolving field of radiation oncology. Johns, who plans to attend medical school in fall 2021, will present her work in the Nursing and Supportive Care Scientific Section of the conference. The comic is part of her research and creative honors thesis through the Honors College. Dr. Parvesh Kumar (Medicine) serves as her thesis advisor.
