Dr. Nabil Noureddin (Medicine) published his manuscript, “Increase in Alcoholic Hepatitis as an Etiology for Liver Transplantation in the United States: A 2004–2018 Analysis” in Transplantation Direct Journal. He is the first author on this national study of the natural history for liver transplantation due to alcoholic hepatitis. He and his co-authors found that for the first time liver transplantation for alcoholic hepatitis in the United States is at an all-time high with an increased overall patient and graft survival in comparison with other etiologies. They hope that this study will contribute to shifting the attitude toward selecting patients with alcoholic hepatitis for liver transplantation, thereby leading to better survival and outcomes in these patients. Noureddin is the chief resident in the department of internal medicine.
