Michelle Kuenzi and John Tuman (Political Science), along with Hafthor Erlingsson, '19 PhD Political Science, published an article, "The Role of International Factors in Electoral Volatility in Latin America: An Examination of Structural Adjustment," in the journal Sage Open . Focusing on 18 Latin American countries during the period of 1982 to 2016, found that IMF adjustment programs was associated with higher "within-system" volatility in legislative elections in the region.
