Melva Thompson-Robinson (Center for Health Disparities Research and School of Community Health Sciences) has been elected co-chair of the Pacific and Southwest Regional Health Equity Council. This council covers Region IX of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, which includes Nevada, Arizona, Hawaii, California, and the Pacific territories. The role of the council is to provide leadership in the areas of health equity and addressing health disparities throughout the region and to provide guidance to the office of minority health regarding issues unique to the region. Thompson-Robinson serves as the lone representative from Nevada on the council.
