Melissa Argueta (Dental) received a 2021 Mars Wrigley Foundation’s Healthier Smiles Grant of $5,000 from the American Dental Hygienists’ Association Institute for Oral Health. She will use the funds to expand the local Early Childhood Caries Prevention Project, which aims to reduce the number of cavities among children by the time they enroll in kindergarten. Through the program, Argueta and others from School of Dental Medicine provide preventive dental services in federally funded Early Head Start and Head Start Centers throughout Nevada.
