Mark Guadagnoli, Whitney Elks, Kencie Ely, Abigail W Cheng, Kavita Batra, Charles Randolph St Hill (all Medicine) published a study, "Good, Better, How,” Educational Intervention: Potential Benefits of Utilizing Feedback in General Surgery; Sequential Mixed-Methods Study of an Educational Intervention" in the Advances in Medical Education and Practice journal. The study explores the critical role of feedback in enhancing learning and performance, which is widely recognized as essential for effective education. Despite its importance, feedback often has inconsistent effects on learner outcomes. This research introduces the "Good, Better, How" (GBH) framework, a novel approach to providing and receiving constructive feedback in surgical training. The study emphasizes the significance of specific, actionable feedback and the advantages of comprehensive training for both educators and learners. This work provides valuable insights for shaping educational interventions and offers a practical guide for integrating the GBH framework into daily teaching and learning practices.
