Manoj Sharma, Christopher Johansen, Sidath Kapukotuwa (all Social and Behavioral Health), Ravi Batra (Environmental and Occupational Health), Chia-Liang Dai (Teaching and Learning), Bertille Assoumou (Surgery) and Kavita Batra (Medicine) published an article titled, “Explaining the Correlates of Eating Outside-of-Home Behavior in a Nationally Representative US Sample Using the Multi-Theory Model of Health Behavior Change: A Cross-Sectional Study” in the International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health. Eating outside of the home has deleterious effects on health, family bonding, economics, and has other negative impacts. In this national sample, it was found that 75% of Americans were eating outside of the home at least twice a week necessitating the need for public health interventions to reduce this behavior. The study lent support to Sharma’s Multi-theory model (MTM) for designing health promotion interventions in this regard. Ravi and Sidath are graduate students.
