Manoj Sharma (Social and Behavioral Health) coauthored an abstract titled, “Associations of perceived skin cancer absolute risk and comparative risk with sunscreen use among patients with keratinocyte carcinoma,” in the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology (the first-ranked journal in Dermatology with an IF of 11.527) along with coauthors from University of Mississippi Medical Center. The cross-sectional study found that self-perceived comparative risk increases for skin cancer, as opposed to absolute risk, were significantly associated with greater sunscreen use in keratinocyte carcinoma patients. This is a useful finding for designing interventions.
