Manoj Sharma (Social and Behavioral Health) co-authored an article, “Social Cognitive Theory Constructs that Predict Betel Nut Chewing among Secondary Students in the Solomon Islands,” published in the Journal of Social Change with coauthors from the Ministry of Health in the Solomon Islands and Fiji Islands. The article found that social cognitive theory was weakly predictive in an international culturally different setting than the U.S. and there was a need to utilize contemporary multi-theory models of health behavior in such settings.
