Manoj Sharma (Social and Behavioral Health; Internal Medicine) was part of the GBD 2021 US Obesity Forecasting Collaborators as a coauthor for the publication, “National-level and state-level prevalence of overweight and obesity among children, adolescents, and adults in the USA, 1990–2021, and forecasts up to 2050 “in the journal, The Lancet (Impact factor 98.4). Based on this study it was found that, in the United States, in 2021, approximately 15·1 million children and young adolescents, 21·4 million older adolescents, and 172 million adults had overweight or obesity. It is predicted that by 2050 if major reforms are not instituted, an additional 3·33 million children and young adolescents, 3·41 million older adolescents, and 41·4 million adults will be overweight or obese. Individual and population-level prevention and treatment measures are needed.
