Madeline (Maddy) Anderson, Erika Busbee, and Melissa Barber (all Military and Veterans Services) presented on "Leveraging Hybrid Teams In the Modern Certification Environment" at the National Association of Veterans' Program Administrators (NAVPA) conference held this year in Norfolk, VA. The trio are VA School Certifying Officials (SCOs) on staff within the UNLV Military & Veteran Services Center (MVSC).
Founded in 1975, NAVPA consists of members dedicated to helping our nations' veterans and their families achieve their educational goals. NAVPA is established and recognized as an organization having direct contact with and input to the U.S. Department of Education, the Department of Veterans Affairs Central Office, American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admission Officers, American Association of Community and Junior Colleges, the House and Senate Veterans Affairs Committees, and other professional organizations.
The MVSC, a unit housed under Student Wellness, supports more than 1,800 veterans, active duty service members, persons in the Reserve or National Guard, and military families. UNLV's MVSC has been twice designated as a Top 10 Military Friendly School within the last three years and is the home of two recent Student Veterans of America national 'Student Veteran of the Year' awardees: Alexandra Sawin (2018) and Andrew Ho (2020).
