Peter Wiens (Teacher Education) and doctoral student Leona Calkins, along with colleague Paul Yoder of Eastern Mennonite University, published the article "Renewed Purposes for Social Studies Teacher Preparation: An Analysis of Teacher Self-Efficacy and Initial Teacher Education" in the Journal of Social Studies Education Research.
The article demonstrates a connection between teacher's initial preparation and their self-efficacy in teaching using data from the Teaching and Learning International Survey, 2018.
